Mobile, AL (BuzzReport) — A shooting investigation is underway after multiple apartment units and a vehicle were struck by gunfire early Tuesday morning at the Knollwood Apartments in Mobile.

According to authorities, officers responded to a report of shots fired around 1:32 a.m. on May 26, 2026, at 1651 Knollwood Drive. When officers arrived at the apartment complex, they were initially unable to locate any victims, suspects, or evidence connected to the reported gunfire.

Later that day, apartment management contacted police after discovering damage on the property. Investigators determined that two apartment units had been hit by bullets during the shooting. A vehicle parked at the complex was also struck by gunfire.

Police confirmed that no injuries were reported despite the rounds entering occupied residential areas. Authorities have not released information regarding possible suspects, motives, or whether the shooting was targeted.

Residents in the area expressed concern after learning bullets had pierced apartment units while people could have been inside sleeping. The incident adds to growing concerns about overnight gun violence impacting residential neighborhoods across the city.

Investigators continue to process evidence and are working to determine exactly what led to the shooting. Officials have not said how many shots were fired or whether witnesses observed any vehicles or individuals fleeing the scene.
