Monroeville, Ala. (BuzzReport) — A sweeping, multi-agency drug investigation has led to a significant narcotics seizure and the execution of multiple search warrants across Monroeville, marking a major удар against suspected gang-related drug trafficking in Monroe County. According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, the coordinated operation unfolded during the evening of April 30 and continued into the early morning hours of May 1, 2026. Deputies working alongside the Alabama Drug Enforcement Task Force, Escambia County Sheriff’s Office, the Escambia County SWAT Team, and a Monroe County Constable carried out search warrants at several local hotels throughout the city. Authorities say the operation was the culmination of a months-long investigation involving both state and federal resources, including a task force officer assigned to the FBI Safe Streets Task Force and agents with the Drug Enforcement Administration. Investigators identified Christopher J. Martin, also known as “Marlo,” as an alleged leader of a local gang operating in the Monroeville area and believed to be connected to multiple shootings. Officials also named Calvin Madison Jr., known as “Baby 6” or “Fat,” as a key associate allegedly involved in the operation. Zakyiah Smith was also identified as an alleged participant in the drug trafficking network. LARGE-SCALE DRUG SEIZURE During the execution of the search warrants, law enforcement officers seized a substantial quantity of illegal narcotics, including: Approximately 1,200 grams of methamphetamine Approximately 325 grams of cocaine Approximately 860 grams of marijuana Approximately 5,850 grams of synthetic marijuana Authorities estimate the total street value of the seized drugs at roughly $150,000. Officials emphasized that these substances, now removed from circulation, could have significantly impacted communities across Monroe County. Sheriff Tom Boatwright underscored the importance of interagency collaboration in dismantling drug networks and addressing violent crime. “This operation is a strong example of what can be accomplished when agencies work together toward a common goal,” Boatwright said. “We are committed to protecting our communities and holding those involved in drug trafficking and violent criminal activity accountable.” He also extended thanks to all agencies involved, highlighting the coordinated effort that made the operation successful. INVESTIGATION CONTINUES Authorities confirm the investigation remains active, with the possibility of additional arrests and charges as new evidence is developed. Law enforcement officials remind the public that all individuals named in the investigation are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
