GULF BREEZE, Fla. (BuzzReport) – A 51-year-old man has been formally charged following a shooting that occurred Thursday evening in Gulf Breeze, according to local law enforcement officials. The suspect, Jay Bachman, was taken into custody and booked into the Santa Rosa County Jail shortly after 11 p.m. Authorities have charged him with aggravated battery and discharging a firearm in public. Police say the shooting took place at approximately 6 p.m. at the Bahama Bay Apartment Complex, located on Pensacola Beach Road. Upon arrival, officers discovered a single घायल victim. “Officers arrived on scene and located a single victim, a white male in his 50s, with a gunshot wound to the abdomen,” the Gulf Breeze Police Department said in an official statement. The injured man was transported for medical treatment. His current condition has not been publicly disclosed. According to witness accounts, the suspect fled the scene immediately after the incident, traveling eastbound on U.S. Highway 98 in a white Chevrolet truck bearing a Florida license plate. Law enforcement officers, including deputies from the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office, later located Bachman at his residence on Greenbriar Circle, where he was detained without incident. Authorities confirmed that no additional suspects are believed to be involved. Investigators have not released information regarding a possible motive, and no further details are available at this time. The investigation remains ongoing.
