Mobile, AL (BuzzReport) — A Mobile man was taken into custody early Friday morning after leading police on a brief pursuit that ended in a crash, authorities said. According to the Mobile Police Department, the incident began on March 27, 2026, at approximately 2:25 a.m., when officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop in the 5100 block of Girby Road due to a traffic violation. The driver, however, refused to stop, prompting officers to pursue the vehicle. Police say the pursuit was short-lived and came to an end on Demetropolis Road when the driver lost control and crashed the vehicle. No information has been released regarding injuries resulting from the crash. The driver, identified as 36-year-old Ossie Pettaway Jr., was arrested at the scene and transported to the Mobile County Metro Jail. Authorities have not yet released the specific charges he may face. The incident remains under investigation.
