MERIDIAN, MS (BuzzReport)– A federal judge on Friday delivered a severe blow to a major drug trafficking operation in the Meridian area, sentencing Afrika Roshawn Seals to 24.3 years in federal prison. Seals, a known ranking member of the notorious Gangster Disciples street gang, faced justice following an extensive multi-agency investigation that uncovered a vast network of illicit drug activity.

The sentence, handed down on October 17, 2025, marks the culmination of a lengthy joint effort that began in 2022. The Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics (MBN) spearheaded the investigation, coordinating closely with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the United States Marshals Service, and the East Mississippi Narcotics Task Force. This collaborative approach proved instrumental in dismantling Seals’ large-scale enterprise.

Throughout the inquiry, agents meticulously gathered evidence, including the direct purchase of approximately one pound of crack cocaine from Seals himself. The investigation escalated significantly in September 2023 with the execution of multiple search warrants. These warrants yielded a substantial haul: three kilograms of cocaine, six ounces of fentanyl, five firearms, three stolen vehicles, and an impressive $84,411 in U.S. currency, alongside various other items indicative of high-level drug trafficking.

Following his indictment by a federal grand jury, Seals was apprehended in July 2024. His arrest triggered further investigative leads, resulting in two additional search warrants. These subsequent operations uncovered even more contraband, adding 1.5 kilograms of cocaine, roughly 1,500 counterfeit M30 (fentanyl) pills, two more firearms, $88,237 in U.S. currency, and additional quantities of crack cocaine to the growing mountain of evidence.

The successful prosecution and sentencing of Seals demonstrate a determined effort by law enforcement to combat organized crime and the proliferation of dangerous drugs within communities. Authorities highlighted that this outcome underscores the effectiveness of sustained partnerships and relentless work aimed at removing repeat offenders from the streets. There remains a steadfast commitment to keeping illicit substances out of communities and away from those who would endanger citizens.

Several co-conspirators involved in Seals’ extensive drug trafficking organization are still awaiting sentencing, signaling further legal proceedings in the ongoing battle against illegal drug operations in East Mississippi.
