Surveillance Footage Leads to Quick Arrest of Two Men Accused of Burglarizing Former Dick Russell’s Building

MOBILE, Ala. (BuzzReport) — What began as a burglary investigation at a longtime Mobile business quickly turned into an arrest after surveillance cameras captured two suspects allegedly breaking into the property and stealing items inside.

According to the Mobile Police Department, officers responded at approximately 8:35 a.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, to the building formerly known as Dick Russell’s, located at 5360 Highway 90, following a report of a burglary.

When officers arrived, they met with the complainant, who provided surveillance video that allegedly showed two individuals unlawfully entering the business and removing property that did not belong to them.

Investigators immediately began reviewing the footage and gathering information about the suspects. A short time later, officers successfully identified and located both individuals, who were taken into custody without incident.

Police identified the suspects as Anthony Hodges, 34, and Preston Wiant, 24.

Authorities said the property allegedly stolen during the burglary was recovered and returned to the business owner, preventing what could have been a significant financial loss.

Following their arrests, Hodges and Wiant were transported to Metro Jail, where they were booked in connection with the investigation. Information regarding the specific charges they face has not yet been released.

The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges could be filed as detectives continue reviewing the circumstances surrounding the burglary.
