George County, MS (BuzzReport)—The George County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrests of Charles Mott and Stephanie Valentine following a series of theft investigations, vehicle pursuits, and stolen property recoveries spanning George County, Mississippi, and Mobile County, Alabama.

According to investigators, the incidents began on May 24, 2026, when deputies with the George County Sheriff’s Office were investigating a possible stolen vehicle in the Agricola area of George County. Deputies observed the vehicle being driven by Charles Mott and attempted to initiate a traffic stop after observing traffic violations.

Authorities said Mott refused to stop and fled from deputies into Alabama, triggering the first of several pursuits tied to the investigation.

A few hours later, deputies with the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office located the same vehicle and attempted another traffic stop. That stop also escalated into a pursuit before the suspects crossed back into Greene County, Mississippi, where the chase eventually ended without the vehicle being recovered.

The investigation intensified again on May 26, 2026, after the George County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a stolen travel trailer from the Rocky Creek area. Investigators later learned the stolen camper trailer was located at Charles Mott’s property in Agricola.

Deputies responded to the property and confirmed through the vehicle identification number that the camper trailer had been reported stolen from Rocky Creek.

While investigators were in the process of recovering the stolen camper, other George County deputies reportedly spotted the previously stolen truck traveling in the Howell area of George County. Authorities said the truck had been painted a different color in an apparent attempt to avoid detection and was towing a large flatbed trailer.

Investigators identified Charles Mott as the driver, with Stephanie Valentine riding as a passenger.

Deputies attempted another traffic stop, but officials said the suspects once again fled into Mobile County, Alabama, sparking another pursuit across state lines.

According to authorities, deputies with the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office later located the vehicle and initiated another pursuit. This time, law enforcement was able to successfully stop the vehicle and take both suspects into custody without further incident.

Both suspects are currently being held at Mobile County Metro Jail while facing multiple charges in Mobile County, Alabama.

Charles Mott is charged with:

• Robbery First Degree
• Receiving Stolen Property First Degree

Stephanie Valentine is charged with:

Investigators said the case continued developing even after the arrests.

On May 27, 2026, the George County Sheriff’s Office received another report involving a stolen flatbed trailer from the Shipman area of George County. Deputies later identified the trailer as the same flatbed trailer seen being towed by Mott during the May 26 pursuit.

On May 28, 2026, George County Criminal Investigation Division investigators received information regarding the trailer’s location in the Semmes, Alabama area. Authorities confirmed the stolen flatbed trailer was successfully recovered.

Additional holds have now been placed on both suspects by the George County Sheriff’s Office.

• Felony Fleeing

Stephanie Valentine faces additional holds for:

George County Sheriff Mitchell Mixon praised both Mississippi and Alabama law enforcement agencies for their coordinated efforts throughout the investigation.

“These individuals demonstrated a blatant disregard for the law and the safety of others by repeatedly fleeing from law enforcement,” Mixon stated. “Let this serve as a reminder that the George County Sheriff’s Office will continue pressing forward to hold accountable those who commit crimes in our community, regardless of where they attempt to flee.”

Mixon also commended George County deputies, criminal investigators, dispatchers, and the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in apprehending the suspects and recovering the stolen property.

Authorities say the investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges could be possible as investigators continue reviewing evidence connected to the multi-county theft operation.
