Mobile, AL (BuzzReport) — A changing weather pattern will move across south and central Alabama over the next 24 hours, bringing rain, a brief dry break, and the possibility of light snow overnight into Sunday morning, according to forecasters. An area of rain currently affecting regions east of I-65 and south of I-85 is expected to move out of the state early this morning. Skies will briefly dry before another round of rain develops late this afternoon or evening, primarily impacting areas south of a Livingston–Montgomery–Auburn line. As temperatures drop overnight, rain may mix with or change to snow between midnight and 3 a.m., mainly east of I-65 and south of I-85. Precipitation is expected to taper off by around midday Sunday. Forecasters emphasize that snowfall accumulation is expected to remain under one inch, with any accumulation limited to grassy or elevated surfaces. Roadways are not expected to be impacted, as afternoon temperatures in the 50swill help warm pavement ahead of the overnight system. However, residents are urged to remain alert during the early morning hours. Temperatures between 5 a.m. and 9 a.m. Sunday are forecast to dip into the 30–35 degree range, raising the possibility of isolated slick spots on bridges or overpasses if standing water freezes. Conditions are expected to improve quickly, with temperatures rising above freezing after 9 a.m. and Sunday afternoon highs climbing into the mid to upper 50s. Henry County, north of Dothan, is currently under a Winter Weather Advisory from 3 a.m. to 11 a.m. Sunday. The National Weather Service issues advisories for snowfall amounts as low as 0.25 inches, and officials note that additional southern counties could be added in future updates if conditions warrant. While impacts are expected to be minimal, residents are encouraged to stay informed and use caution during early morning travel as this winter system moves through the region.
