Mobile, AL (BuzzReport)- A Mobile woman is behind bars following an early morning attempted carjacking at a Springhill Avenue gas station, according to the Mobile Police Department.

Officers were called to the Energizer Service Station just before 6 a.m. Wednesday after a woman reportedly tried to force her way into another woman’s vehicle while armed with a knife.

Police say the victim was able to escape the situation by exiting her car with her keys and running inside the business, avoiding injury.

Responding officers located the suspect a short distance from the scene and took her into custody without incident. She was later identified as Tyese Winston.

Jail records indicate Winston has been charged with first-degree robbery.

The incident remains under investigation.
