Montgomery, AL (BuzzReport) — Local pastor and community leader KK Middleton officially announced today that he is running for Alabama State Senate District 25, launching a campaign focused on people-first policies and practical solutions for Alabama families.

Middleton, known for his work both in the pulpit and the community, said his decision to run comes from a deep commitment to serving others and addressing the everyday challenges facing working families across the district and the state.

“Alabama families deserve leadership that puts people first—not politics,” Middleton said in his announcement. “My priorities are clear and rooted in the real needs of our communities.”

Middleton’s platform centers on lowering costs for families, improving public safety, strengthening education, and expanding access to healthcare. His key priorities include eliminating the state grocery tax so families are not taxed for feeding their children, repealing Alabama’s permitless carry law to help make communities safer, and fighting for better pay for teachers to ensure educators receive the respect, support, and compensation they deserve.

Healthcare access is also a cornerstone of his campaign. Middleton has pledged to support Medicaid expansion, pointing to its potential to save rural hospitals, protect jobs, and provide healthcare coverage for thousands of Alabamians.

“These are not partisan issues—they are people issues,” Middleton said. “Alabama can do better, and together, we will.”

The pastor-turned-candidate emphasized unity, faith, and service as guiding principles of his campaign, asking voters for their prayers, support, and trust as he seeks to represent District 25 in the State Senate.

“I ask for your prayers, your support, and your vote as we work to build a stronger, safer, and more affordable Alabama for everyone,” Middleton said. “Let’s move Alabama forward—together.”

The Alabama Primary Election is scheduled for Tuesday, May 19.
