MONTGOMERY, AL (BuzzReport)— The Alabama Democratic Party (ADP) announced a significant leadership shift in Montgomery this week, confirming the appointment of Mark Onorato as the organization’s new Executive Director. The move signals a renewed focus on leveraging robust campaign and legislative expertise to drive Democratic victories across the state.

ADP Chairman Randy Kelley confirmed the hiring, emphasizing that Onorato brings an essential array of field and legislative experience to the organization. The Chairman stated that the party looks forward to integrating the fresh energy and extensive knowledge that the new director is expected to provide to the team.

Onorato’s professional background demonstrates a sharp focus on both grassroots organizing and policy implementation. An alumnus of Texas Tech University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations and Image Management, he has since built a diverse resume spanning multiple states and challenging political environments.

His career includes serving as a Field Organizer for the Montana Democratic Party and later transitioning into high-level policy positions, including Legislative Director in the Missouri House of Representatives and a Legislative Aid with the Texas Senate. Prior to accepting the role in Alabama, he served in a critical field capacity as the Regional Field Organizer for the North Dakota Democratic-NPL in 2024.

The new Executive Director’s immediate priorities involve maximizing the party’s reach and electoral success. Onorato intends to utilize his extensive background in campaign management, policy development, and constituent services to further the ADP’s goals.

He has committed to focusing efforts on electing Democrats up and down the ballot throughout Alabama. Furthermore, the party structure under his direction will prioritize advocating for policy solutions designed to benefit all Alabamians, often positioning these goals in direct opposition to what party leadership characterizes as the current administration’s ruinous economic strategies. The appointment is seen as a key step in strengthening the organizational structure ahead of future election cycles.
