Jackson, MS (BuzzReport)- Jackson authorities have apprehended two women in connection with a deadly shooting that claimed the life of a 22-year-old man last month at a city gas station. Carniya Randolph, 20, and Candice McVeigh, 19, now face charges of accessory after the fact to murder following the violent incident. The fatal shooting unfolded on October 19, 2025, in the 900 block of Cooper Road. The victim, identified as Melvin Bass, a Jackson resident, tragically sustained fatal injuries at the scene. Randolph and McVeigh were taken into custody as the investigation progressed. Both women were subsequently charged with accessory after the fact to murder, a serious offense indicating their alleged involvement in supporting the principal offender after the crime. During their initial court appearances, bond was denied for both individuals, ensuring their continued detention as legal proceedings move forward. Interim Jackson Police Chief and Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones confirmed details surrounding the case, indicating that the suspects quickly departed the scene following the shooting. Initial reports suggest their escape vehicle may have been a white Honda sedan.
