Mobile, AL (BuzzReport) – The University of South Alabama Jaguar football team has bolstered its 2026 recruiting class with the addition of Elliott Chaney, a 6-5, 285-pound all-region center from Oxford High School in Mississippi. Chaney, who had previously committed to Old Dominion University since mid-April, flipped his commitment to join the Jaguars, citing a desire to stay closer to home.

This move marks a significant gain for South Alabama’s offensive line, as Chaney brings his skills and experience to the team. With his impressive size and athleticism, Chaney is expected to make a strong impact on the Jaguars’ future lineup.

South Alabama’s Recruiting Momentum

The addition of Chaney to the Jaguars’ 2026 class follows the commitment of Sami Abdelhak, a 6-3, 305-pound offensive lineman from Louisiana private school powerhouse Southern Lab. Abdelhak, who earned all-district honors as a junior, is projected to play guard for the Jaguars. These signings demonstrate South Alabama’s growing momentum in recruiting, as the program continues to attract talented players and build a strong foundation for the future.
