Mobile, AL (BuzzReport)- A judge has denied a request to reinstate bond for William “B.J.” Squires, a former Bayou La Batre police officer accused of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl. Squires was indicted for rape and sexual abuse, and his bond was revoked last month after evidence emerged that he attended a baseball game in Biloxi, Mississippi, violating the terms of his bond.

According to the court, Squires’ bond conditions required him to stay within Alabama, but he was found to have traveled to Mississippi for the baseball game on June 5. This led to the DA’s office revoking his bond and signing a warrant for his arrest.

The case will proceed to trial in June next year, as set by the judge. Squires remains in custody after the judge denied the request to reinstate his bond. The allegations against Squires are serious, and the court’s decision reflects the severity of the charges [1
