Mobile, Alabama (BuzzReport) – The Mobile Police Department responded to a local hospital Thursday at approximately 4:30 p.m. after a juvenile was treated for a self-inflicted gunshot wound. According to the MPD, the wound was not life-threatening. Following the incident, police began an investigation and contacted the Department of Human Resources prior to the child being released to family members. During the investigation, detectives located a scene related to the incident and recovered a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana. As a result of the investigation, Naporsha Wrightington, 36, was arrested and taken to Mobile County Metro Jail. Jail records indicate Wrightington is being held on charges of child chemical endangerment, along with other charges stemming from previous warrants. The Mobile Police Department states the investigation into this incident remains active. No additional information is being released at this time.
