Update: Juvenile Dead After Gunfight on Calmes Street in Mobile

Mobile, AL (BuzzReport) – A male juvenile is dead following an exchange of gunfire with another individual on Calmes Street in Mobile on Tuesday afternoon. The Mobile Police Department (MPD) released information stating officers responded to a call on the 1900 block of Calmes Street around 3:54 p.m. after reports of a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers discovered the juvenile victim in the street suffering from a gunshot wound. First responders immediately transported him to a local hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.

According to investigators, the incident stemmed from a street fight between the victim and an acquaintance who was seated inside a vehicle. During the altercation, both individuals reportedly opened fire on each other. One of the bullets struck the juvenile, resulting in his fatal injury.

Authorities confirmed that surveillance cameras located at nearby Rickarby Park did not capture the shooting. Police stated that the incident occurred in the street, outside the cameras’ current field of view.

The MPD has withheld the victim’s identity due to his age.
