Prichard, AL – The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office has apprehended a suspect in connection with a shooting that occurred Friday morning in Prichard. Demetrius Andrews, identified as the alleged shooter, was taken into custody by the MCSO Special Operations Unit. According to authorities, the incident happened around 8:11 a.m. on Baldwin Drive, where a male victim was shot and transported to a local hospital in serious condition. Andrews was located walking on Baldwin Drive and detained for questioning. During an interview with MCSO Detectives, he confessed to the shooting, claiming self-defense. However, witness statements contradict this claim. A witness reported having a fight with Andrews earlier, which was followed by an altercation between Andrews and the victim. The witness stated that Andrews left the scene but returned with a weapon and shot the victim. Andrews has been arrested and charged with Assault 1st. The investigation is ongoing, and further charges may be pending. The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office urges anyone with information to come forward.
