Mobile, AL (BuzzReport) – A Mobile County woman, Catherine Elizabeth Rogers, has pleaded not guilty to the state’s new doxing law after being accused of posting an accusation on Facebook alleging a couple molested her son. Rogers, 42, from Grand Bay, was appointed a public defender and is set for a preliminary hearing on June 5.

The Mobile County District Attorney’s Office is reviewing the case to determine if the statute applies to the facts. The law, sponsored by State Rep. Shane Stringer (R-Citronelle) and passed in 2023, makes doxing a crime if it results in harm to the person targeted.

The law carries penalties ranging from a Class A misdemeanor to a Class C felony for subsequent violations. Judge George Zoghby has ordered Rogers not to post about the victims’ family or have any contact with them or their property.
