Traffic Stop Leads To $1.36 Million Meth Seizure

The incident occurred on September 10, 2026, when a CHP Central Division Canine Officer stopped a 2026 Dodge Durango after observing multiple alleged traffic violations. What initially began as a traffic enforcement action quickly escalated when the officer reportedly noticed indicators that prompted further investigation.

During the stop, K-9 Shei was deployed around the Dodge Durango. According to CHP, the trained narcotics detection dog alerted to the odor of narcotics coming from the vehicle.

Following the canine alert, officers conducted a probable-cause search of the Durango. Investigators reportedly discovered approximately 100 pounds of crystal methamphetamine, a massive quantity of illegal drugs with an estimated street value of approximately $1.362 million.

The seizure represents a significant disruption to an alleged methamphetamine trafficking operation, given the sheer volume of narcotics involved. Authorities say the investigation resulted in the driver being taken into custody.

The suspect was later booked into the Merced County Jail on allegations involving the possession and transportation of methamphetamine for sale.
