Father Arrested After Baby Girl Suffers Head Trauma

Mobile, AL (BuzzReport) — A 19-year-old father is facing an aggravated child abuse charge after a baby girl was taken to a local hospital suffering from head trauma, according to police.

Authorities say the incident occurred last Wednesday, when the infant was brought to the hospital for medical treatment. Medical personnel reportedly identified injuries involving the child’s head, prompting police to become involved and launch an investigation into how the injuries occurred.

Following the investigation, police arrested the child’s father, 19-year-old Joshua Smiley Jr., on Monday. Smiley was taken into custody and booked into the Mobile County Metro Jail on an aggravated child abuse charge.
