Suspect Arrested in Fatal Dauphin Street Circle K Shooting

Mobile, Alabama (BuzzReport) — A deadly early-morning shooting at a Circle K on Dauphin Street has resulted in an arrest after investigators determined the gunfire occurred during a physical confrontation between the victim and a security guard inside the business.

According to the Mobile Police Department, officers were dispatched at approximately 3:47 a.m. Friday, August 14, 2026, to 3251 Dauphin Street, the location of the Circle K, following reports of a shooting.

When officers arrived, they discovered a male victim suffering from life-threatening injuries. The victim was transported to a local hospital for emergency treatment but was later pronounced deceased.

As detectives investigated the circumstances surrounding the shooting, they learned that the victim had entered the business shortly before the shooting and allegedly physically assaulted a male security guard.

Police say the confrontation escalated, and the security guard shot the victim during the altercation.

The security guard was identified as 42-year-old William Weemes, who was subsequently arrested and transported to Metro Jail.

The circumstances leading up to the physical confrontation and the moments immediately before the shooting remain part of the ongoing investigation. Authorities have not released the identity of the deceased victim.

The shooting occurred during the early-morning hours at a business along Dauphin Street, prompting a police response as investigators worked to secure the scene, gather evidence and determine exactly what transpired inside the Circle K.
