Early Morning Shooting Under Investigation in Atmore

Atmore, AL (BuzzReport) — An early morning shooting in Atmore is under investigation after police were called to a local hospital following the arrival of a person suffering from a gunshot wound.

At approximately 2:00 a.m., officers with the Atmore Police Department responded to Atmore Community Hospital after being notified that a gunshot victim had been brought to the facility. Preliminary information indicates the shooting may have occurred in or near the Brown Street area of Atmore.

Investigators quickly began working to determine exactly what led to the shooting, where it occurred, and who may have been involved. The department’s Criminal Investigation Division, Narcotics/Vice Division, and Crime Scene Unit are all involved in the investigation.

At this time, police have not released additional details about the victim’s condition, the circumstances leading up to the shooting, or whether a suspect has been identified or taken into custody.
