Drug Suspect Rams Patrol Vehicle, Sparks Multi-Agency Manhunt in Pike County, MS

PIKE COUNTY, MS. (BuzzReport) — A suspect wanted on drug-related charges remains the focus of an active law enforcement operation after allegedly leading deputies on a vehicle pursuit, intentionally ramming a sheriff’s patrol vehicle, and fleeing on foot into a residential area Monday.

According to the Pike County Sheriff’s Office, deputies attempted to arrest the suspect on August 3, 2026, in connection with the sale of a controlled substance. However, as deputies moved in to take the individual into custody, the suspect fled in a vehicle, triggering a pursuit that stretched from rural Pike County into the City of McComb.

Authorities said the chase began in the Pleasant Grove community before continuing into McComb. During the pursuit, the suspect allegedly drove onto White Boulevard, where investigators say the driver intentionally rammed a Pike County Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle in an apparent effort to evade capture.

After striking the patrol unit, the suspect abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot, running south from the scene.

Law enforcement officers quickly established a perimeter around a nearby residence where they believe the suspect may be hiding. The Pike County Sheriff’s Office has deployed K-9 units and its Drone Team to assist in the search, while investigators work to obtain a search warrant for the residence.

Sheriff Bryant “Wally” Jones said authorities have strong reason to believe the suspect is inside the home.

“We have reason to believe the suspect is inside the residence. At this time, we do not believe there is any danger to the public. We appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation as our deputies work to bring this situation to a safe conclusion,” Jones said.

The sheriff’s office emphasized that the operation remains active as deputies continue their efforts to safely apprehend the suspect. Officials have not released the suspect’s identity or indicated whether anyone else may be inside the residence.

Residents in the area are encouraged to remain alert and follow any instructions provided by law enforcement while the investigation continues.
