MOBILE, Ala. (BuzzReport) — A two-vehicle crash that left one woman critically injured over the weekend has now turned fatal, according to the Mobile Police Department.

The collision occurred on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at approximately 12:23 p.m., when officers responded to the intersection of Schillinger Road and Grelot Road following reports of a serious traffic accident.

When officers arrived, they found two female victims. One woman suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported by ambulance to a local hospital. The second woman sustained minor injuries and sought medical treatment at a local hospital after traveling there by personal vehicle.

Investigators determined that one of the vehicles was traveling southbound on Schillinger Road when another vehicle, driven by 76-year-old Brenda Hunt, crossed over from the northbound lanes into oncoming traffic, resulting in a violent head-on collision.

In an update released Tuesday, July 28, Mobile Police confirmed that Hunt succumbed to her injuries while hospitalized. She passed away Monday night, authorities said.

The condition of the second driver has not been updated, and police have not released any additional details regarding the circumstances surrounding the crash.

The fatal collision serves as a tragic reminder of the dangers of roadway incidents and marks another traffic-related death under investigation in Mobile.

Authorities say no further information is available at this time. The investigation remains closed pending any additional findings released by the Mobile Police Department.
