Mobile, Ala. (BuzzReport) — Mobile Police have identified the man who was fatally shot Tuesday afternoon outside a local business on Halls Mill Road as 25-year-old Evan Bagley, as investigators continue reviewing the circumstances surrounding the deadly encounter.

According to the Mobile Police Department, officers were dispatched at approximately 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, to 4454 Halls Mill Road, the location of Chips Auto Glass, following reports of a shooting.

When officers arrived, they found Bagley suffering from a fatal gunshot wound in the parking lot of the business. Despite emergency response efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say the preliminary investigation revealed that Bagley arrived at the business and initiated an altercation with another man. During the confrontation, detectives determined that Bagley allegedly pointed a handgun at the other individual. The other man then fired his weapon, striking Bagley.

Following the shooting, the man involved did not flee the area. Instead, he drove directly to the Mobile Police Department’s Second Precinct, where he voluntarily surrendered and was detained for questioning by investigators.

At this time, no arrest has been made.

Police said the case has been turned over to the Mobile County District Attorney’s Office, which will review the evidence to determine whether any criminal charges are warranted. Authorities have indicated that no additional information will be released while that review is ongoing.

The investigation remains active, and detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information that could assist investigators to contact the Mobile Police Department at (251) 208-7211.

As with all investigations, the final determination regarding any potential charges will be made after the District Attorney’s Office completes its review of the evidence.
