Mobile County, AL (BuzzReport) — A dangerous high-speed chase involving a stolen truck from Mississippi ended with two arrests in Mobile County after authorities say the driver intentionally rammed several sheriff’s vehicles while trying to escape deputies. According to the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office, deputies attempted to stop a 2014 Chevrolet C35 near Moffett Road and Schillinger Road after the truck matched the description of a vehicle reported stolen out of George County, Mississippi. Investigators said the driver, identified as Charles Mott, refused to stop and led deputies on a pursuit across western Mobile County. Authorities said the chase continued from the Moffett and Schillinger area to Snow Road and Brooklyns Way. During the pursuit, officials said Mott deliberately struck multiple sheriff’s office vehicles in an effort to avoid arrest, creating what deputies described as a serious threat to law enforcement officers and the public. The chase eventually came to an end, and both Mott and passenger Stephanie Valentine were taken into custody without further incident. Authorities also linked the pair to a violent robbery involving a 66-year-old victim in Wilmer. Investigators said the suspects allegedly assaulted the victim by striking them in the head before stealing more than $1,000 in cash. Officials have not released the condition of the victim, but the allegations add to what investigators describe as a growing list of serious charges connected to the case. The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that both suspects are also facing additional charges in Mississippi tied to the stolen vehicle investigation and other alleged crimes. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities said more charges could be forthcoming.
