Mobile, AL (BuzzReport)—A Mobile man has been arrested after police say gunfire erupted near the intersection of Senator Street and Dauphin Island Parkway, leaving a vehicle riddled with bullets and raising concerns among residents in the area.

According to investigators, officers responded to reports of shots fired and arrived to find a vehicle that had been struck multiple times by gunfire. Authorities confirmed that the vehicle was occupied at the time of the shooting, but fortunately no injuries were reported.

Police identified the suspect as Darrius Mitchell Jr. of Mobile. Following an investigation, Mitchell was taken into custody and charged with shooting into an occupied vehicle, a serious felony offense under Alabama law.

Mitchell was booked into the Mobile County Metro Jail, where he remains in custody pending further court proceedings.

Jail records show Mitchell is scheduled to appear for a bond hearing on Wednesday.

Authorities have not released additional details regarding what led to the shooting or whether the individuals involved knew one another. The investigation remains ongoing.
