LEFLORE COUNTY, Miss. (BuzzReport) — A disturbing discovery inside a county-issued vehicle has sparked concern and calls for an investigation in Leflore County after District 2 Supervisor Reginald Moore revealed that an unauthorized tracking device was allegedly placed on his vehicle without his knowledge.

During Monday’s Leflore County Board meeting, Moore publicly disclosed that County Administrator Cynthia Stancielinformed him last week that the Leflore County Sheriff’s Office discovered the device on his county-issued black Dodge Charger.

According to Moore, the vehicle has been assigned to him since he was first elected in 2018.

The tracking device was reportedly uncovered while sheriff’s office personnel were preparing the vehicle for reassignment to a new deputy sheriff. Officials attempting to install department equipment allegedly encountered repeated technical issues when the system would not properly connect.

Stanciel said workers then began hearing what was described as a strange noise coming from inside the vehicle, prompting a closer inspection. That inspection ultimately led to the discovery of the unauthorized tracking device.

Moore told the board that he later contacted Apple and was provided with information connected to the device, including a serial number and the last four digits of a phone number allegedly linked to the person who may have placed the tracker on the vehicle.

The revelation raised immediate concerns during the meeting, with Moore stating that he believes he continues to be targeted and fears for his personal safety and well-being.

County leaders responded by voting to allow the county administrator to move forward with the sheriff’s office and the county board attorney in efforts to identify a potential person of interest connected to the device.

The incident has sparked serious questions surrounding surveillance, privacy, and possible criminal conduct involving a county official. At this time, authorities have not publicly identified any suspects, and it remains unclear how long the tracking device may have been attached to the vehicle.

No arrests have been announced, and the investigation remains ongoing.
