MOBILE, Ala. (BuzzReport) — A heavy law enforcement presence descended on the Spring Hill College campus Wednesday midday after authorities responded to a reported threat, prompting swift action and temporary safety measures at nearby schools. According to officials, Mobile Police and Mobile County Sheriff’s deputies quickly launched an investigation into the alarming situation. Authorities say a woman was identified and taken into custody in connection to the threats for questioning. Investigators report the suspect allegedly made disturbing statements, including a threat against children. Despite the severity of the claims, Spring Hill College officials later confirmed the threat was not credible. “Out of an abundance of caution, the Public Safety team is monitoring the situation closely and remains in communication with law enforcement,” the college said in a statement to students and staff. As a precaution, nearby St. Paul’s Episcopal School was briefly placed on shelter-in-place, while officers worked to secure the area and track down the suspect. Authorities located the woman at the Springhill Oaks Condominiums on Old Shell Road, where she was detained without incident. Officials say charges are pending as the investigation continues. Law enforcement has since cleared the scene, and both Spring Hill College and St. Paul’s Episcopal School have resumed normal operations. Officials emphasize there is no ongoing threat to the community.
