Mobile, AL (BuzzReport) — A 23-year-old man has been arrested following an investigation into a shooting that occurred Saturday night in Mobile.

According to authorities, officers responded to a local hospital at approximately 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 5, 2026, after a male victim arrived suffering from a gunshot wound.

Investigators determined that the shooting occurred in the 600 block of Westwood Street. The victim had reportedly been transported to the hospital by personal vehicle for medical treatment.

Upon arrival, officers discovered that the victim’s injury was non-life-threatening. During the investigation, authorities determined that a male subject had allegedly fired multiple shots at the victim before leaving the area.

The investigation remained active as detectives worked to identify the person responsible.

On Tuesday, September 8, 2026, authorities announced a significant development in the case. The subject was identified and located, leading to the arrest of Montycello Hines, Jr., 23.

Hines was taken into custody and transported to Metro Jail. The arrest marks a major development in the investigation, which began after the victim sought treatment following the shooting.

Authorities have not indicated whether additional arrests or charges could result as the investigation continues. The circumstances surrounding the shooting, including what led to the confrontation, remain under investigation.
