Mobile, AL (BuzzReport) — A shoplifting investigation at an ALDI grocery store on Government Street has resulted in the arrest of a 66-year-old Mobile man after police say the incident escalated when the suspect allegedly threatened and pushed a store employee. According to the Mobile Police Department blotter, officers responded to 1550 Government Street, the location of ALDI, at approximately 12:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 8, 2026, following a report of a shoplifting incident. When officers arrived, they learned that a male subject had allegedly been attempting to steal merchandise from the store. During the investigation, officers determined that the situation involved more than an alleged theft. Police said the subject made a verbal threat toward a male employee while pushing past him as he attempted to leave the store. The circumstances prompted officers to investigate the incident as a Robbery in the First Degree case. The suspect was located a short time later and detained by officers. Authorities identified him as Johnny Williams, 66. Williams was arrested and transported to Metro Jail in connection with the incident.
