MOBILE, Ala. (BuzzReport) — A Theodore man has been arrested and charged with manslaughter after investigators say he provided fentanyl to a man who later died from an overdose, according to court records. Authorities say Luke Ball was taken into custody by the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday, March 10, in connection with the death, which occurred on Sept. 4, 2025. According to court documents, investigators allege Ball supplied fentanyl to the victim prior to the fatal overdose. The case remained under investigation for several months before charges were formally filed and an arrest was made. In addition to the manslaughter charge, Ball is also facing charges of possession of a controlled substance and second-degree possession of marijuana, according to jail records. Court records indicate Ball’s total bond has been set at $33,250 for the three charges. Officials have not released the identity of the overdose victim, and it remains unclear if additional arrests could be made as the investigation continues. The case highlights ongoing concerns among law enforcement and public health officials regarding the spread of fentanyl, a powerful synthetic opioid that has been linked to a growing number of overdose deaths across the region and the country. Ball remains in custody at the Mobile County Metro Jail as the case moves through the court system.
