Baldwin County, Ala. (BuzzReport) — The U.S. Coast Guard has released additional details following a deadly plane crash Saturday evening near the Gulf Shores area. According to officials, a private aircraft was approaching the Gulf Shores airport when it crashed into the water at approximately 6:50 p.m. Emergency crews from several agencies quickly launched a coordinated search effort beginning around 7 p.m. Responders searched by air, land, and water as they worked to locate the aircraft and any possible survivors. Agencies involved in the response included the cities of Orange Beach and Gulf Shores, Daphne Search and Rescue, AMR, and the U.S. Coast Guard, along with other partner agencies. Authorities say they believe the two victims aboard the aircraft are men from Gulf Shores. Investigators believe the plane had departed from Florida’s east coast and was en route to Gulf Shores before the crash occurred. Officials say the wreckage of the aircraft remains in the water. The fuselage has been marked and secured with surrounding buoys as investigators continue to examine the crash site. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
