Jackson Couple Arrested on Felony Charges in Copper Wire Theft Case

Jackson, MS (BuzzReport) — A Jackson husband and wife were taken into custody Feb. 5 and charged with multiple felonies in connection with the alleged theft of AT&T copper wiring and extensive damage to electrical infrastructure in several neighborhoods.

Police identified the suspects as Nicholas Crum, 46, and Lillia Crum, 42, both residents of Jackson. Authorities said the couple is facing felony counts of grand larceny and malicious mischief.

According to investigators, the thefts and resulting damage occurred in the areas of Belvedere Drive, Monterey Street and Cummins Street. Police estimate the stolen copper wiring was valued at more than $5,000, while damage to electrical components exceeded $10,000.

The Crums appeared before a Jackson Municipal Court judge on Friday. Bond was set at a total of $500,000 for each defendant, with $250,000 assigned to each felony charge.

The Jackson Police Department continues to investigate the case and urged anyone with information related to this incident or other copper wire thefts to come forward.
