Man Found Dead in Moss Point New Year’s Day Shooting

Moss Point, MS (BuzzReport)- A Moss Point man was found dead early New Year’s Day following an apparent shooting, prompting an ongoing investigation by local authorities.

Interim Moss Point Police Chief Dennis Stevenson said officers were dispatched to the 12000 block of River Pine Drive shortly after 8 a.m. Wednesday after receiving reports of gunfire. When police arrived, they discovered a man lying on the floor inside a residence, suffering from a fatal gunshot wound.

Chief Stevenson noted there were no signs of forced entry at the home, a detail investigators are considering as they work to determine what led to the shooting.

Police have not released the victim’s name or any information about possible suspects. The investigation remains active, and authorities say additional details will be shared as they become available.
