Pascagoula, MS (BuzzReport) — A routine traffic stop along Highway 90 escalated into a brief pursuit on the evening of December 31, 2025, ending with the arrest of a Pascagoula man on drug charges, according to local authorities. Officers attempted to stop a vehicle between the Highway 90 bridges late Tuesday night when the driver refused to comply and fled the scene. The suspect, later identified as 33-year-old Carl Haynes Jr., abandoned the vehicle and attempted to escape on foot. Officers quickly gave chase and apprehended him a short distance away. Following the arrest, Haynes was charged with Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance (Crack Cocaine). Authorities have not released additional details regarding the quantity involved or whether further charges may be pending. Haynes is currently being held at the Jackson County Adult Detention Center, where he awaits further legal proceedings. The incident remains under investigation.
