Bay Minette, Ala. (BuzzReport) — A tragic single-vehicle crash early Thursday morning claimed one life and shut down part of a busy Bay Minette intersection as first responders worked through the predawn hours.

According to authorities, officers were dispatched at approximately 3:30 a.m. on January 1, 2026, to the intersection of Highway 59 and McMillian Avenue following reports of a vehicle engulfed in flames. When officers arrived, they determined the fire was the result of a single-vehicle traffic accident.

The incident resulted in one fatality. The identity of the victim has not been released, pending notification of next of kin.

Emergency personnel secured the scene as investigators began working to determine what led to the crash. Officials have not yet released details regarding speed, road conditions, or other possible contributing factors.

The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities say no additional information is available at this time.

The crash serves as a sobering reminder of the dangers present on roadways during late-night and early-morning hours. Community members are encouraged to drive cautiously and remain alert, particularly during holiday periods when traffic patterns and fatigue can increase risks.
