Lucedale, MS (BuzzReport) — The George County Sheriff’s Office played a key role in advancing a fatal hit-and-run investigation stemming from Troy, Alabama, underscoring the importance of cross-jurisdictional cooperation in serious criminal cases.

At the request of the Troy Police Department, investigators and deputies with the George County Sheriff’s Office assisted in locating and securing a vehicle believed to be involved in a deadly hit-and-run incident. Through coordinated investigative efforts, authorities successfully located the vehicle within George County. The vehicle was subsequently secured and turned over to Troy Police Department officials for further examination.

As the investigation progressed, a suspect identified as Malvin Geovany Villalobos-Bonilla was interviewed by Troy Police Department officers at the George County Sheriff’s Office. Following the interview, the suspect was taken into custody, signed a waiver of extradition, and was released into the custody of Troy Police Department authorities to face charges related to the incident.

Sheriff Mitchell Mixon commended the efforts of all agencies involved, emphasizing the value of collaboration when addressing serious crimes. He highlighted the professionalism of George County investigators and deputies and noted the strong cooperation between his office and the Troy Police Department.

Officials confirmed that all additional details regarding the investigation and potential charges will be released by the Troy Police Department. The information was authorized for release by Sheriff Mitchell Mixon.
