Crime scene do not cross tape.

Mobile, AL (BuzzReport)  – A late-night shoplifting attempt at a Mobile convenience store turned into a terrifying robbery Tuesday evening when a suspect, confronted by a cashier, issued a chilling threat of gun violence before fleeing the scene.

Mobile Police responded to the CEFCO located at 2204 Springhill Avenue at approximately 10:00 p.m. on September 9, 2025, following reports of a robbery. According to preliminary findings, a male subject had been observed leaving the business with unpaid merchandise.

A male cashier, attempting to prevent the theft, bravely pursued the individual outside the store. However, the situation escalated dramatically when the suspect turned on the employee. Police confirmed that the subject verbally threatened to shoot the cashier if he continued to follow. Faced with the ominous threat, the employee ceased his pursuit.

The suspect then fled the area on foot, leaving behind a shaken cashier and an active crime scene. No weapon was reportedly displayed, but the explicit threat of violence elevates the incident from shoplifting to a serious robbery.

The Mobile Police Department has launched an active investigation into the incident. Authorities have not yet released a detailed description of the suspect.

Anyone with information regarding the robbery or the identity of the suspect is urged to contact the Mobile Police Department. The investigation is ongoing.
