Montgomery, AL (BuzzReport) – The Montgomery Police Department (MPD) has announced the arrest of a local man in connection with a child sexual abuse case, a development that comes as communities grapple with increasing concerns over the safety of young people.

Ronald Story Jr., 34, of Montgomery, was taken into custody on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, and charged with Sexual Abuse of a Child Less than 12. The alleged incident occurred just hours prior, on Monday, September 8, 2025, at approximately 10:00 p.m.

According to an official statement from MPD, detectives swiftly identified Story as the suspect following the report. He was apprehended without incident and subsequently transported to the Montgomery County Detention Facility, where he remains held.

This arrest casts a stark spotlight on a troubling trend that has become increasingly prevalent across the nation, including within Alabama. Child sexual abuse, targeting both young children and teenagers by adult perpetrators, appears to be on a disturbing ascent, according to national advocacy groups and local law enforcement.

Community leaders and child protection advocates are intensifying their calls for legislative action, urging lawmakers to strengthen existing statutes and enact new, more stringent laws to create a more robust legal shield for vulnerable minors. “The tragic reality is that our children are facing threats from predators in ways we haven’t seen before,” stated one Montgomery-based child welfare advocate, who asked not to be named due to ongoing efforts. “It’s high time we empower our legal system with every tool possible to deter these heinous crimes and ensure justice for victims.”

The MPD has not released further details regarding the specific circumstances of the alleged abuse, citing the sensitive nature of the case and the age of the victim. Investigations are ongoing, and authorities urge anyone with information related to this case or similar incidents to contact the Montgomery Police Department or CrimeStoppers.
