Gautier, MS –, David Pace, A 26-year-old Gautier man has been delivered a stark 80-year prison sentence after being found guilty on two counts of exploitation of a child and one count of felony child endangerment. The severe judgment underscores authorities’ unwavering commitment to protecting the most vulnerable members of society.

A judge handed down the extensive sentence, specifying that Pace will serve an uncompromising 45 years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections. The remaining years will be spent under rigorous post-release supervision. Crucially, the 45-year term is designated as “day-for-day,” meaning there is no possibility of early release or parole, ensuring Pace serves every moment of his dedicated sentence behind bars.

District Attorney Angel Myers McIlrath voiced her office’s resolute stance on such egregious offenses. “Our office is steadfast in holding anyone who harms children accountable. No one who harms a child should ever doubt that we will pursue justice with every resource available,” McIlrath stated. “Protecting the most vulnerable is not only our duty, it is our unwavering commitment.”

The extensive case against Pace originated in May 2023, when a vigilant investigator from a Texas internet crimes against children’s task force initiated contact with Pace in an online chatroom. This initial interaction proved pivotal.

Officials revealed that Pace shared deeply disturbing images of young children being sexually abused, including one victim identified as being in Jackson County. Given Pace’s residence, the Gautier Police Department was immediately contacted to lead the local investigation. A subsequent and thorough search of Pace’s phones by officers uncovered a vast and horrifying collection of child sexual abuse images and videos, solidifying the charges and leading to his eventual conviction and sentencing.
