Mobile Neurosurgeon Arrested On Nearly A Dozen Child Pornography Charges

MOBILE, Ala. (Buzz Report) — A Mobile-area neurosurgeon has been arrested on nearly a dozen charges involving alleged child sexual abuse material following a months-long investigation that stretched across Mobile and Baldwin counties.

Dr. Shawn Clark, 59, was taken into custody Thursday morning near his home on Third Street in the Montrose community, according to the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators said the case began after authorities received a cyber tip in March involving possible child sexual abuse material allegedly connected to Clark’s residence in Baldwin County and a medical office in Mobile.

According to investigators, authorities were able to trace an IP address to Clark’s home. The information allegedly linked the residence to activity involving suspected child sexual abuse material.

Authorities said the investigation identified potential victims who were girls around the age of 13, adding another serious dimension to the case as investigators work to determine the full scope of the allegations.

Law enforcement conducted searches at locations connected to Clark, including his Baldwin County residence and his medical office in Mobile, as investigators gathered evidence in the case.

The investigation also involves federal authorities. Officials indicated that the FBI is expected to review the case and could seek additional charges beyond the state charges Clark currently faces.

Clark’s bond hearing is scheduled for Friday morning, where additional details about the allegations and the conditions of his release could become public.
