Mobile, AL (BuzzReport) – Mobile Police are actively searching for two suspects following an attempted shoplifting that swiftly escalated into an armed commercial robbery at a local Family Dollar store on Monday afternoon. The incident, which saw an employee confronted with a handgun, has prompted a thorough investigation by authorities. The unsettling event unfolded yesterday, August 25, 2025, at approximately 3:47 p.m., at the Family Dollar located at 415 Azalea Road. According to preliminary reports from the Mobile Police Department, a male and a female subject entered the business and were observed attempting to leave the store with merchandise they had not paid for. The situation took a dangerous turn when a store employee, exercising vigilance, confronted the individuals regarding the unpaid items. In a brazen act, the male suspect reportedly brandished a handgun, using it to intimidate the employee before he and his female accomplice quickly fled the premises. Fortunately, no physical injuries were reported during the encounter. However, the display of a firearm immediately elevated the incident from a potential shoplifting charge to a commercial robbery, a serious felony offense. The Mobile Police Department has confirmed that this remains an active and ongoing investigation.
