Mobile, AL (BuzzReport) – An early morning tranquility was shattered in Mobile on Saturday, August 23, 2025, when a Lululemon store on Du Rhu Drive became the target of a brazen “smash-and-grab” commercial burglary. Suspects used a vehicle to ram through the storefront before making off with an undisclosed amount of merchandise.

Mobile Police Department (MPD) officers were dispatched to the Lululemon location at 9 Du Rhu Drive at approximately 6:00 a.m., following an initial report of a vehicle accident. However, upon arrival, the scene revealed a more sinister intent.

Officers discovered significant structural damage to the building, consistent with a vehicle impact. The vehicle responsible for the crash was no longer at the scene, having fled immediately after the incident. Further investigation quickly confirmed that the collision was not accidental but a calculated act of forced entry designed to facilitate a robbery.

Authorities stated that during the chaotic incident, the subject or subjects stole an undisclosed quantity of merchandise from inside the popular athletic apparel store. Lululemon, known for its high-value clothing and accessories, is often a target for retail theft due to the resale value and portability of its products.

“This was clearly not an accident; it was a deliberate act to gain access and commit a theft,” an MPD spokesperson, who wished to remain anonymous due to the active investigation, told BuzzReport. “Our officers are currently processing the scene for evidence and reviewing any available surveillance footage from Lululemon and surrounding businesses.”

As of Saturday evening, no arrests have been made in connection with the incident, and the investigation remains active and ongoing. Police have not yet released a description of the vehicle involved or the number of suspects. The extent of the damage to the Lululemon store and the full value of the stolen goods are also yet to be determined.

This type of “smash-and-grab” operation, while not unheard of, represents a concerning escalation in retail crime tactics within the Mobile area. Local businesses in the commercial district are urged to be vigilant and review their security measures.

Mobile Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the vicinity of 9 Du Rhu Drive during the early morning hours of Saturday, or who has any information regarding the vehicle or individuals involved, to contact the Mobile Police Department or call Crime Stoppers at 251-208-7211. Calls can remain anonymous.

Lululemon management at the Du Rhu Drive location could not be reached for comment regarding the incident or the store’s potential reopening timeline.
