Montgomery, Ala. (BuzzReport) — A 67-year-old man is facing a serious felony charge following an early morning violent incident in Montgomery. According to the Montgomery Police Department (MPD), Leroy Nix, 67, has been charged with Attempted Murder in connection to a shooting that occurred on April 7, 2026, at approximately 2:40 a.m. in the 800 block of Rosa L. Parks Avenue. Authorities say Nix was quickly identified as the suspect during the course of the investigation. He was taken into custody and transported to the Montgomery County Detention Facility, where he has been formally booked on the charge. Police have not yet released details regarding the victim’s condition or the circumstances that led up to the shooting. Investigators also have not said whether the individuals involved were known to one another. The charge of attempted murder is among the most serious under Alabama law, indicating investigators believe there was intent to cause death.
