Centreville, MS (BuzzReport) – In a decisive move to uphold accountability within law enforcement, State Auditor Shad White announced the arrest of former Centreville Police Officer Patrick Harris. Harris faces charges of embezzling town property by selling department-issued firearms to a local pawn shop.

According to investigators, Harris allegedly pawned his service pistol and later stole two additional pistols from the department’s evidence room, selling them for personal gain. This egregious breach of public trust has sparked swift action.

“Public servants are expected to uphold the highest standards of integrity,” said Auditor White. “We will vigorously pursue justice to protect taxpayer dollars and ensure accountability.”

If convicted, Harris faces up to 20 years in prison and $5,000 in fines. As with any defendant, Harris is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The investigation underscores the commitment to transparency and accountability within Mississippi’s law enforcement agencies.
