PENSACOLA, FLORIDA (BuzzReport) – A 39-year-old Fort Walton Beach man, Malcolm Jamal Norvilus, has been sentenced to 120 months in federal prison for Possession with Intent to Distribute 50 Grams or More of Methamphetamine. The sentence was handed down on July 1, 2025, by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Florida.

According to court records, Norvilus was apprehended on July 25, 2024, after leading law enforcement officers on a high-speed chase in Okaloosa County. Officers found over 80 grams of methamphetamine and other narcotics concealed on Norvilus’ person.

U.S. Attorney John P. Heekin stated, “Thanks to the efforts of our law enforcement partners, our communities will be safer with this individual locked up and no longer able to distribute methamphetamine.”

The case was a joint investigation between the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office and the DEA, highlighting the collaborative efforts to combat drug trafficking in the area.

Okaloosa County Sheriff Eric Aden emphasized, “Getting methamphetamine off our streets is a top priority, and we’re proud to partner with federal agencies to achieve successful results.”

DEA Miami Field Division Special Agent in Charge Deanne L. Reuter added, “Methamphetamine poses a significant risk to our communities, and we remain dedicated to fighting this illicit substance with our law enforcement partners.”

The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jessica S. Etherton. This sentencing is part of the broader efforts under Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative aimed at combating illegal immigration, dismantling cartels, and protecting communities from violent crime.
