Baldwin County, AL (BuzzReport) – A single-engine Cessna aircraft was discovered crashed in a field in south Alabama Friday morning, prompting an investigation into the whereabouts of its pilot. The two-seater plane was found overturned in a field off Gardner Road and County Road 95, after the Elberta Volunteer Fire Department received reports of the crash.

Emergency responders arriving at the scene found the aircraft unoccupied, with evidence of broken glass and blood inside the cockpit. Tire tracks in the field indicate the plane impacted the ground prior to overturning. Authorities believe the pilot or occupants managed to exit the wreckage and were transported from the scene.

As of Friday afternoon, the pilot’s location remains unknown. Local hospitals have not reported admitting any patients matching the description of someone involved in a plane crash. While the Baldwin County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) was notified of the incident, their assistance was not ultimately required at the scene. Investigators currently suspect the crash occurred sometime Thursday night and are working to determine the cause of the accident and locate the pilot. The investigation is ongoing.
