Mobile, AL (BuzzReport) – A suspect with multiple outstanding warrants is now in custody after leading Mobile Police on a brazen chase through the city Thursday afternoon. The incident, which began with a simple traffic violation, escalated into a high-stakes pursuit that ended with the suspect’s apprehension and the revelation of his checkered past with law enforcement.

According to a Mobile Police Department press release, officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop near the intersection of Moffett Road and Wolf Ridge Road around 2:34 p.m. However, the driver, later identified as 33-year-old Lee Hicks, clearly had other plans. He refused to comply with the officers’ commands and instead put the pedal to the metal, initiating a chase that wound its way through city streets.

The pursuit finally came to an end in the 2600 block of Glass Avenue, where officers successfully took Hicks into custody. But the story didn’t end there. A subsequent investigation revealed that Hicks had active warrants issued by both the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office and the Saraland Police Department.

Hicks is now facing a slew of charges, including attempting to elude, resisting arrest, and reckless endangerment – charges that underscore the disregard he showed for the safety of Mobile citizens during his reckless flight. Furthermore, officials executed warrants for second-degree marijuana possession, carrying a concealed weapon, and jumping bail, as confirmed by the Mobile Metro Jail records.
