Mobile, AL (BuzzReport) – The race for the Mobile Municipal Elections gained momentum on Saturday as longtime community and civil rights activist, Robert Battles, officially launched his campaign at a lively kickoff event in the Hillsdale community. The gathering attracted a large crowd, showcasing strong support for Battles as he aims to represent District 7.

Attendees were treated to complimentary hot dogs, hamburgers, and sodas, while music and activities for children added to the event’s festive atmosphere. “Our goal is to bring our campaign and message to the community, get our residents involved with our campaign, and let them know that they have a leader who will fight for them today and every day,” Battles stated.

The event featured speeches from several prominent community leaders and business owners, including Mr. Cozy Brown and Patricia Law, both of whom emphasized the importance of voter participation. “This district is now a majority African American district, and it’s time that we make history by electing our first black representative for District 7,” asserted the campaign manager.

Recent changes in Mobile’s city lines, following the annexation of several new neighborhoods, have increased the African American population in District 7. Battles, who is vying for the District 7 seat, urged citizens to scrutinize how current leadership has allocated funding for community projects. “I want the citizens of District 7 to research the facts and data regarding our Councilwoman’s expenditures of CIP funds. It’s time we invest in every neighborhood continuously, not just during election season,” he stressed.

Mr. Battles previously served on the Mobile County School Board as an elected commissioner.

Mobile’s municipal elections are set to take place on Tuesday, August 26th, and excitement continues to grow as candidates rally support from their respective communities.
